Free Casket For Veterans
The Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg is offering a free casket to any honorably discharged veteran at the time of need as a way of honoring those who have served our country.
"What could be a better way of honoring veterans, who have served our country, then by providing them with a free casket," funeral director David Bussa said.
Bussa and his associate David Chamberlin put a lot of consideration into their decision of how best to honor veterans within the auspices of their business' services. The funeral home began this week to offer the free casket for veterans when making funeral arrangements.
There are a large number of veterans in Scioto County," Bussa said. "Scioto County is very patriotic. We have a lot of World War II veterans, we have Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm. We even have quite a few veterans that I know who served in Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan."
The casket, which is being offered at no charge to the veterans' families, is a dignified gunmetal gray steel with an American flag embroidered in the lining.
"Veterans' patriotism in this country, I think, is at an all-time high," Bussa said. "And I think it's well overdue that we honor and respect our veterans for their service to our country."
